Inspired by the hair on :iconseenae:'s piece [link]

I wanted to add another tutorial, and something new that I haven't done before. So I looked up some curly hair patters and this is the best that I could come up with for now. I hope this helps.

Ooh, I really like this tutorial. :D I've never really painted horses from scratch before, except once (and it turned out odd), but this gives me fresh hope that I might actually be able to do it well, eventually.

Very useful! Though I know you meant it to be for a curly coated horse, I think this technique would work well for most curly coated animals.

I have a question though: What sort of layer settings did you put on the white highlight layer to get that result? I've seen it done before, but I can never manage to replicate the results. :hmm:

You have inspired me *wants to get a new tablet quickly* I'll definately try to put this technique to use. Would you like me to note you with the final piece if I do use this? Because I'll probably end up putting it on my main account, not this one. (knowing me though, I'll probably forget!)

Depends on the colors and effect I want. I used to do this all by hand x_x and then someone told me about layer settings. This one is set to overlay. Some times I use dodge (rarely) but usually it's luminescence.

Wow, very cool, Bara. When I have normal computer access again, I'm totally trying this just for the hell of it.
